She is a beautiful boat, Hull # designed by Robert Perry and built in 2003 in Ontario. Her previous owners obviously took pride in caring for her and she is quite sea worthy. We will have a rechristening ceremony for her when we arrive in Annapolis in mid-April where she currently lies on the hard.
The newly named "Northern Star" will serve as our sole home for the next 2 - 10 years. Her engine is a with 3000 hours on the engine. We have ordered a full set of new sails from Quantum Sails. The main with Sail # is raised and dropped from the cockpit and will be stowed into a Stack Pack. All lines lead aft, so she will be the perfect boat for two to sail alone. The 135% Genoa will roll out when we go downwind, and her much smaller jib, which is mounted on the staysail is self-tacking. She has capacity to carry gal of diesel and gal of fresh water between two water tanks. Mounted on the dodger there are solar panels capable of generating amps/hr. She has A/C and a heater mounted on https://www.pinterest.com/ardysnbread/ bulkhead. We will likely wait until we're closer to leaving U.S. waters before activating the desalination water maker. When we are at anchor, we will make use of the 13 opening portholes. There are anchors and we plan to add a anchor to the set after arrival in Annapolis. The galley is well equipped with a Force 10 3 burner stove, double stainless steel sinks, separate refrigerator and freezers.
Electronics are in good shape: SSB radio, radar and ______The life raft and our life jackets all carry EPIRBs. We will be installing AIS so that we can identify ships in the dark or at a distance and they will be able to identify us as well.
Northern Star has two heads, however we do not plan to use the forward V-head for that purpose. It will be christened "the workroom" with tools and my new Sailrite machine. The master cabin utilizes a Portman berth on the port side and lockers, drawers on the starboard. The "new" to us, sailboat also comes with a ' dinghy and a hp motor currently suspended from the davits off the stern. We have included pictures of her inside and out.
